A man and woman have been charged with the murder of a five-week-old baby.

Sean Jefferson, 34, of Walsall, and Amy Leigh Clark, 33, of Lichfield, have also been charged with causing or allowing the death of a child, and two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

The pair have also been charged with three counts of causing/allowing a child to suffer serious physical harm.

Both appeared at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Friday.

They have been remanded in custody and will appear at Stafford Crown Court on June 11.

In a short statement today, Staffordshire Police confirmed the charges.
