The EuroMillions jackpot is slowly creeping towards £200,000,000 after nobody won last night’s draw.

The winning numbers in yesterday’s EuroMillions draw were 12, 30, 38, 40 and 4 and the lucky stars were 4 and 12 for a prize of £166 million.

Despite being a huge sum, Friday’s jackpot isn’t the biggest in EuroMillions history.

A lucky player in Austria managed to scoop the £209,300,000 in EuroMillions after the jackpot rolled over seven times in a row.

He won the huge amount of money with a stake of just €10.

People in the UK have managed to strike gold in the past as well.

This includes two British people who bagged the EuroMillions jackpot of £83,000,000 in January and the £65,000,000 jackpot in February.

While many people may think that winning the large sum of money may be a blessing, it can also be a curse.

Studies in the US have found that people are more likely to declare bankruptcy within three to five years compared to the average citizen.

The pressure may also cause somebody to spiral into depression and lead to alcohol and drug abuse.

This includes Michael Carroll from the UK who won £9,700,000 on the National Lottery in 2002 – but declared bankruptcy nine years later.

He wasted millions of his fortune on cocaine, gambling, prostitutes and drinking two bottles of vodka a day.

What happens when nobody wins the EuroMillions?

When there’s no jackpot winner, the prize rolls over to the next one, which is made on Tuesdays and Fridays.

The cost of a EuroMillions ticket is £2.50 and includes an entry into the UK Millionaire Maker draw.

Here’s what you can win:

  • Five Main Numbers + two Lucky Stars – Jackpot
  • Five Main Numbers + 1 Lucky Star – £130,554.30
  • Five Main Numbers – £13,561.20
  • Four Main Numbers + 2 Lucky Stars – £844.70
  • Four Main Numbers + 1 Lucky Star – £77.80
  • Three Main Numbers + 2 Lucky Stars – £37.30
