A man has been discharged from hospital after a car was plunged from a multi-storey car park at Luton Airport in London.

Emergency services were called to Car Park One around 11am on Sunday after one person was left seriously injured.

But a spokesperson for the airport later said the victim involved in the incident had been discharged from hospital with ‘minor’ wounds.

The vehicle slammed into the ground near the airport, causing disruption for holidaymakers travelling to and from the airport with cars diverted to different areas.

An eyewitness, who shared a photo of police at the scene on X, told Metro that officers said the vehicle had fallen from the second floor of the car park.

While the airport is running as usual, pictures show traffic being diverted away from both multi-storey car parks at the airport.

Emergency barriers are also in place around a multi-story car park.

Bedfordshire Police told Metro: ‘Emergency services were called shortly before 11am to an incident involving a single vehicle at a multi-storey car park at London Luton Airport.

‘Police, ambulance and fire crews are on scene. One person has been taken to hospital with injuries which are thought to be serious.’

A Luton Airport spokesperson confirmed ‘one person has been taken to hospital for further assessment’.

They added: ‘Arriving vehicles are being redirected to the airport’s mid-stay car park until further notice.

‘There is no disruption to wider airport operations.’
