A Wollongong dad and his two adult children won $1.1 million on Keno on Sunday by playing their birthday numbers.

The family was at the Collegians Leagues Club in Balgownie when their Keno Classic 10 Spot bagged $1,182,628.

Split three ways, they’ll each take $394,209.33.

The winning dad, who chose to remain anonymous, said the windfall means he’ll be able to stay in the family home instead of downsizing.

“I’m still suffering from the shock,” he said.

“We’re all so excited. I play almost every day and always use our birthday numbers.

“It was funny. I was watching the screen and counting the numbers.

I said to my wife, ‘Wow. We’ve got seven numbers,’ and then it hit me, we actually had all 10! I went ‘shit!’ and I think I nearly died on the spot.

“It’s come at a perfect time because I’m actually in need of a new car.

“We’ve also been thinking of downsizing our house, but now we’ll be able to stay in our family home.”
