A man who hid the dead body of his ex-girlfriend in his home for over two years has been jailed.
Jamie Stevens, 51, covered the body of 36-year-old Anouska Sites with a blanket after she died at his flat in Upton Road, Torquay, sometime in early 2022.
He lied to police who came looking for her pretending he hadn’t seen her in months.
Anouska was reported missing on April 10 this year, sparking an investigation.
The last confirmed sighting was May 21, 2022, but Stevens insisted to officers she’d vanished earlier.

Police made repeated visits to the flat but got no answer. When they finally forced entry on May 27, they found Anouska’s body inside.
Stevens was arrested and admitted he’d discovered her dead after a night together in January 2023, then simply covered her with a blanket and left her there.
Stevens told officers that he knew what he should have done and that looking back, he doesn’t know why he didn’t call emergency services. He admitted that he knew the explanation didn’t ‘sound right’.
DI Jeanne Hellyer said: ‘Anouska was denied the dignity and right of a lawful burial on her death by Stevens. My thoughts remain with her family and friends, who can now lay her to rest.’
Anouska’s death is not being treated as suspicious.
At Exeter Crown Court today (August 11), he was jailed for 14 months for preventing the lawful burial of a body, with a concurrent eight-month sentence for perverting the course of justice.
