A retired vicar who used nail scissors to carry out bizarre underground surgery on another man’s genitals has been jailed for three years.

Geoffrey Baulcomb, 79, was filmed at his home in Eastbourne, East Sussex, performing the operation to enlarge the man’s urethra in 2020.

A court heard the footage is linked to video posted on the website of self-styled ‘Eunuch Maker’ Marius Gustavson, who is currently jailed for mutilating paying customers and streaming it on a pay-per-view website.

The London-based Norwegian got his own penis cut off, keeping it in a drawer for years afterwards, one nipple removed and one leg frozen so badly it had to be amputated.

Jurors were told how Baulcomb and Gustavson were friends, exchanging some 10,000 messages.

Baulcomb, who was ordained as a priest in 1970, previously pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm over the procedure at his home.

He also admitted to distributing an indecent image of a child and three counts of making indecent images of children.

The 79-year-old, who worked at a church in Chichester, further pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing extreme pornographic images, amounting to 195 images.

He had still been ordained when he mutilated the man but was permanently barred from ministry last year over a police caution handed to him in 2022 when crystal meth and ketamine were found at his home.

During church tribunal proceedings he admitted to ‘periodically’ taking drugs over 20 years.

But he argued it wasn’t misconduct because it helped him ‘carrying out his pastoral mission’.

According to the Church Times, which reported on the proceedings, he claimed ‘experimenting with drugs or by providing a venue at his home for drug-taking better enables him to relate and minister to people with difficulties as part of his pastoral care’.

Baulcomb was sentenced today at the Old Bailey.

Gustavson, who is said to have earned more than £300,000 from mutilating apparently willing clients over four years, was jailed last year for 22 years.
