Emergency services were called to the car park of the Coomera Westfield on Foxwell Road about 1.25am today after a security guard found a 32-year-old woman with stab wounds.

The woman was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

Police believe there was no connection or disagreement between the driver and her passenger.

“We believe the offender has booked a rideshare with that female and has gone from Hope Island to Coomera as part of that rideshare,” Detective Inspector Paul Fletcher said.

Police discovered two phones and a small kitchen knife in nearby bushland, but are still working to determine if the items are related to the attack.

The 16-year-old boy, from Upper Coomera, has been charged tonight with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, armed robbery and deprivation of liberty.

He is due to face Southport Childrens Court tomorrow.

Investigations are continuing.
