Most of the UK will be stuffing themselves with too much chocolate today, with ‘five a day’ relating only to different varieties of Cadbury Easter eggs.

But for some, the Easter bunny has paid a visit with something a little longer lasting.

The National Lottery held a ‘must be won’ draw to celebrate Easter weekend (just what Jesus would have wanted) and three ticket holders have immediately become millionaires.

Nobody scooped the £15 million jackpot by matching all six balls, so the prize rolled down to those who matched five balls plus the bonus ball yesterday.

They took £1.06 million each, with every other prize boosted as a result.

The winning numbers were 01, 02, 11, 13, 30, 37 and the bonus number was 33.

Andy Carter, senior winners’ adviser, said: ‘It’s a very happy Easter for Lotto players, as there has been a big jackpot rolldown in tonight’s special £15 million Easter Lotto must-be-won draw which has resulted in three new millionaires being created, after three lucky ticket-holders matched five main numbers and the bonus ball to win £1.06 million.

‘Players are urged to check their tickets and to give us a call if they think they are one of tonight’s winners.’

Not to make you feel dissatisfied with your plastic basket of Lindt mini eggs, but these three are not the only Brits to celebrate more than a long weekend this week.

In Wednesday’s draw, a single player scooped £5,208,504 as the Lotto jackpot.

To put it in perspective, that would buy them roughly 1.3 million KitKat Chunky milk chocolate Easter eggs.

Of course, in practice it would probably end up being less, as you’d have to buy an extra house too so you had room for them all.

For the draw last night, set of balls seven and draw machine Lancelot were used.

No-one won the Lotto HotPicks jackpot of £350,000, which uses the same numbers as the main draw, but 16 players matched four out of five numbers to win £13,000.

In Thunderball, Saturday’s winning numbers were 12, 14, 18, 20, 38 and the Thunderball number was 04.

One lucky player matched all five numbers plus the Thunderball to scoop the £500,000 prize, and three players matched five numbers to win £5,000 each.
