Jars of pickled gherkins have been recalled due to fears they could pose a risk to those with allergies.

Baxter’s Food Group is recalling Baxter’s Sliced Gherkins Crunchy & Sweet because they contain mustard, which is not mentioned on the label.

This means they’re a possible health risk with anyone who has an allergy to mustard.

The recall applies to 540g jars with a best before date of June 2026.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA), which published the recall on its website, said: ‘Baxter’s Food Group is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.’

The FSA advised anyone who has bought the gherkins and could be serving them to anyone with an allergy to mustard to throw it away.

They can contact the Baxter’s customer care team on 0800 389 8389 or by emailing CCUK@baxters.com and ask for a replacement.

The product is sold at supermarkets, including Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury’s.
