Passengers on the London Underground faced severe delays after issues on the Central line.

The morning rush hour was hit by delays across the network, including on the Central line.

A track fault at Bond Street caused severe delays on the busy commuter line between White City and Ealing Broadway/West Ruislip and between Leytonstone and Epping/Hainault.

Normal service resumed before midday after engineers repaired the fault.

Earlier, a faulty train caused delays on the District line between Barking and Upminster, which has since been resolved.

This line carries an estimated 570,000 passengers per day.

The Central line is second only to the Victoria line when it comes to the frequency of trains.

Another one rolls up every 1.76 minutes on the Central line, compared with every 1.66 minutes on the Victoria line.

But with that frequency comes heat – a lot of it.

The Victoria line is also the hottest of the London Underground lines, reaching 30°C on average in the summer of 2023.
