A ‘Miss Scotland’ model bit two security guards and racially abused one of them during a furious tirade at a rugby event.

Lucy Thomson attended the Edinburgh City 7s rugby competition in June 2023. It was here the 26-year-old was seen in footage that went viral on social media after Thomson had to be escorted from the premises.

She bit and racially abused security guard Andrew Okpaje, bit a second officer named Alasdair Doolan, 32, and bragged about her wealth. Thomson also asked them ‘do you know who I am?’.

Thomson, the winner of Miss Scotland in July 2022, was convicted at Edinburgh sheriff court of using racial abuse against Mr Okpaje, 26, and assaulting both security guards.

Mr Okpaje was employed by MK Security at the rugby tournament held at the Peffermill playing fields in Edinburgh.

He said in court he had been called to a report regarding an intoxicated woman on the day of the rugby event.

Readers are advised Mr Okpaje’s recollection of events contains some extremely strong language.

Thomson started to fight back aggressively as she was escorted from the premises, Mr Okpaje said.

The Sun reported that Thomson told him ‘I’ve got so much money in my account’.

Mr Okpaje said: ‘As we got closer to the exit I was assaulted. We were holding her and trying to be as gentle as possible and as I had my arm up she went to bite it. It left a mark on my hand.’

Then Thomson racially abused him. Mr Okpaje described the incident as a ‘shock’ and ‘pretty horrible’.

He said: ‘I looked at her in shock and then she proceeded to call me the ‘n’ word. She looked directly at me and with confidence she said ‘f*** you then, you f****** n*****’.’

He added: ‘I hadn’t heard the word said to me in a while.’

Thomson, from Fife, had said she was invited to the event to act as an ambassador. She also said she promoted it on social media.

The Miss Scotland winner said she was acting in self-defence, had only drunk two and a half ciders and that her sister was allegedly ‘cornered’ by event security.

Thomson denied the charges against her, but her version of events was derided as ‘utterly implausible’ by Sheriff Derek O’Carroll.

He found her guilty and fined her £790.

She was also stripped of her Miss Scotland title, with organisers saying she had been ‘dethroned’, according to the event’s Wikipedia page.
