What to do if a person goes missing?

If you see somebody who you think is a missing person, the best thing to do is report it to Missing People or the police.

You can check to see if there is an appeal for a missing person on the website.

It does not publicise all missing people and you may have seen a police post for a missing person instead.

The organisation takes this information if you want to report confidentially, but it may be easier to contact police directly if they are appealing for information.

Missing People offer an alternative way of getting information to police if you do not want to contact them in the first instance.

Sometimes the organisation receives information about people that somebody feels worried about and they assume they might be missing.

If you can’t find the person on the website or you haven’t seen a social media post or poster about them, they may not be a missing person.
