PICTURED Sheena McKerrellA woman who died following a road traffic collision in Haworth yesterday (6th April) has now been named as Sheena McKerrell, 81, from Hebden Bridge.Sheena was involved in the collision as a pedestrian and sadly died at the scene following the incident on Bridgehouse Lane at the junction of Ivy Bank Lane at around 5.35pm.A 23-year old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and released on bail.Officers from the Major Collision Enquiry Team are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dash cam footage of the incident or prior to the incident to please come forward.

An 81-year-old woman died when she was hit by a car in West Yorkshire on Sunday.

Sheena McKerrell, from Hebden Bridge, was walking along Bridgehouse Lane in the village of Haworth when she was hit around 5.30pm.

The 81-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, just south of Keighley and west of Bradford.

She was near the junction of Ivy Bank Lane when it happened.

A 23-year-old man who was driving the car was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was released on bail today.

Local councillor Rebecca Poulsen, who lives nearby, described the news as ‘really said’.

She said: ‘My first thoughts are with the lady who tragically passed and her family and friends.

‘I’d like to pass on my thanks to the emergency services and residents who helped give emergency aid. It must have been quite distressing for them.

‘The people who were present were shocked and upset.’

In a statement, police said: ‘Officers from the Major Collision Enquiry Team are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dash cam footage of the incident or prior to the incident to please come forward.’
