The Liberal Party has taken the 2025 federal election up a notch with a new tongue-in-cheek “diss track” targeting Labor’s economic policies.

The Coalition dropped the song Leaving Labor today just hours after Peter Dutton’s official campaign launch in western Sydney yesterday, marking the first studio-produced rap track of this year’s election season.

The song is described by the Liberal Party as a “Kendrick [Lamar] meeting Question Time – lyrical, direct and as with all the best raps, political”.

“Bring them prices down, this is what we need, cause Albo’s gotta leave, Albo’s gotta leave,” the unidentified rapper quips.

“I just want to buy some eggs and cheese, $100? You kidding me?… I just want to put food on the table.”

The song, shared via SoundCloud, already has close to 1000 streams after it was released earlier today.

“It’s a serious message in a new format,” a Coalition spokesperson said of the minute-long track.

“This drops harder and faster than interest rates under Labor.”

An album cover using Anthony Albanese’s face photoshopped onto the iPhone shrug emoji was also used to promote the song.

The Coalition hired a commercial artist, who remains unknown, to sing the lyrics.

It’s not the first time the Liberals have used catchy lyrics during an election campaign.

Voters may not soon forget Scott Morrison’s campaign song with the lyrics “there’s a hole in your budget, dear Labor”, which drew inspiration from the children’s rhyme, There’s a Hole in My Bucket.
