A woman who died in hospital after an alleged domestic violence incident at an apartment in Sydney’s east has been identified as Claire Austin.
Emergency services were called to a unit on Randwick Street in Randwick about 7.40am Saturday following reports of a concern for welfare.
Police from the Eastern Beaches Police Area Command found Austin, 38, inside the unit with a severely lacerated arm.

She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a critical condition.
Austin, a marketing manager originally from the UK, died in hospital yesterday.
NSW Premier Chris Minns said that police were taking the investigation incredibly seriously.
“I want the public to be assured that there’s a task force that’s been set up by NSW Police, they’re taking it incredibly seriously, and the focus will be justice for that woman and her family,” Minns said.
NSW Police Minister Yasmin Catley also expressed her condolences.
“Here we see another death at an alleged domestic violence incident, another one too many,” she said.
“We’ve seen too many of these, as we know.”
Police spoke to a 44-year-old man, who was known to the woman, at the unit.
He was then taken to Maroubra Police Station to assist with inquiries.
He has since been released without charge and taken to a mental health facility.
No arrests have been made.
Detectives from Strike Force Lyndoch are investigating how the woman came to be injured and are asking anyone with information to contact Eastern Beaches Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
