A teenager looked up how to kill a human before going on to mutilate and take the lives of two kittens, a court has heard.
The 17-year-old, who cannot be named, tortured the cats in Ruislip, north west London, on May 3 along with a 16-year-old girl.
The animals had been cut open, with ropes tied to them. One was found hanging in a tree and the other was on the ground nearby.
Knives, blowtorches and scissors were also found at the scene, the hearing was told.
Witnesses had seen the teenage boy carrying an animal carrier and became concerned when they later saw him and the girl running from the scene.
Prosecutor Valerie Benjamin said evidence from the boy’s phone showed he had been speaking about wanting to kill cats and dogs.
The pair also both admitted one count of possession of a knife at Ruislip Golf Course at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court.
They were remanded into the care of the local authority with conditions including a 6pm to 7am curfew monitored by police and to not contact one another.
Judge Michael Oliver told them: ‘As I hope is clear to you, the offences are extremely serious. I am not ruling out any way of dealing with you.’
They will be sentenced on June 23 at the same court.
Two other teenagers, a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, arrested on Friday on suspicion of animal cruelty were released without charge, the Metropolitan Police said.
