A man has been arrested at the Port of Dover after a young man was stabbed to death outside an east London pub.
The victim, named locally as Tyler Haywood, was killed opposite the Wetherspoon’s on Chingford Mount on Sunday night.
The 22-year-old suspect was detained at the Port of Dover this evening by Kent Police. He remains in custody.
A ferry was stuck in the busy port after police boarded it late on Tuesday.
Witnesses described how ‘hero’ pub staff battled to save the life of Tyler.
They raced out of the pub with a defibrillator in an effort to save him, locals said.
Tyler, 26, was described as a ‘peaceful character’ who was well-liked in the close-knit suburban community.
His mother Maria wrote on Facebook: ’26 years of loving you and now all I want is one more day, hour or even just a few minutes.
‘I don’t understand how anyone can stand this kind of pain. It’s the worst feeling I’ve ever known. But I would do it over and over again to have these moments with you. My son. My heart. My world. Your mum forever.’
Tyler’s family added: ‘We are struggling with the tragic loss of Tyler, a beautiful soul with the kindest of hearts.
‘A much-loved son, grandson and brother, who will be missed immensely. We would appreciate privacy at this time whilst we come to terms with our loss.’
A local shopkeeper said Tyler had been in his store just hours before he was attacked.

He told Metro: ‘I saw him earlier in the day. He was a peaceful guy, really nice. Not the type to get in fights. We do not understand how this happened but from what I’m told he had done nothing wrong.’
A restaurant worker who was passing just moments after the stabbing described the ‘horrific’ scenes as Tyler lay dying.
The witness, 28, told Metro: ‘There was panic and distress. There were people from the pub with a defibrillator trying to save him. There was a crowd forming of people from the pub and then the police and ambulances showed up. The people from the pub were heroes. They did their best.’
Another witness who had been in the pub told Metro: ‘There was shouting outside and people including staff ran out. When it comes down to itpeople want to help. The bloke who died is a known face. He’s a decent person, no bother.’
The attack took place on Chingford Mount at around 9pm on Sunday.
Tyler died at the scene and a manhunt by murder squad detectives is underway.
A blue and white crime scene tent marked the spot where the man lay fatally injured as people laid floral tributes close by.
Forensics officers are trawling for clues and the road remains cordoned off.
Inquiries are focusing on a Sheesha bar opposite the Kings Ford Wetherspoon.
Detectives are collecting CCTV footage and carrying out door-to-door inquiries as part of the investigation.
Chief Superintendent Dan Card said: ‘We are deeply saddened by the events that took place last night and our thoughts remain with the man’s family at this hugely difficult time.
‘Detectives are working hard to establish the circumstances of what happened yesterday evening.
‘We understand the impact this incident will have on the local community and officers are being deployed on reassurance patrols to help answer any questions or concerns.’
