A Virgin Australia aircraft has suffered damage after it collided with a towing vehicle at Tullamarine Airport in Melbourne.
The incident occurred during a ground transfer overnight.
“On Sunday evening, a Virgin Australia aircraft was being towed to the maintenance hangar at Melbourne Airport when it appears to have become disconnected from the tug vehicle, causing the tug to impact the side of the aircraft,” a Virgin Australia spokesperson said.

Vision from the scene showed a large gash on the side of the plane as workers tried to patch it up.
No passengers were on board at the time and nobody was injured.
The aircraft was being towed to undergo scheduled maintenance, and no disruption is expected for Virgin’s Monday schedule.
