Exclusive: The daughter of a man killed in a frightening Adelaide shooting says her father was just trying to protect his son after they were ambushed by a group at a pub.

An investigation is under way into the shooting, which saw Troy Jacka killed outside a home on Stebonheath Road in Munno Para West.

Police say he was in a struggle with another man when a gun in his possession discharged.

The victim’s daughter, Thalia, said he would do anything for his five children – and claims on Saturday meant giving his life.

“My Dad died protecting his son. Like any father would,” she told 9News today.

She says Jacka and her brother Jayden were ambushed at the Smithfield Hotel by a group that included Jayden’s ex-girlfriend.

Thalia said her dad Troy would do anything for his five children and nine grandchildren.

“They were out for my brother. That’s all there is to it,” Thalia said.

“[They] tried running my brother over and got him with a baseball bat,” she further alleged.

“Broke his arm in three places.”

She believes that incident prompted her father to travel to the Stebonheath Road property.

“I went to the crime scene myself to have it all sink in. But it hasn’t sunk in,” she said.

“We’re all grieving in our own ways that we know how.”

Police have arrested two women and a man in connection with the alleged pub attack at the Smithfield Hotel, charging them with affray.

They have not been charged over Troy Jacka’s death.

“Revenge is coming. And it’s going to happen,” Thalia said.

“Either the police do it, or we’re going to do it ourselves. It’s just how it’s going to go.”

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
