A Victorian dad has ditched his ute for a horse to save money on petrol, and has turned heads by trotting through a drive-through bottle shop.
Eathon White, a truck driver and father of three, has been observed riding his 23-year-old stallion, Fox, on errands around Moe, including a visit to the local BottleMart.
“There’s nothing like going to Kmart to get hair ties and blu-tac and everyone runs out to say OMG, look at this horse!” White said.

He explained that the decision to utilise Fox for local trips was driven by the increasing cost of fuel, which currently amounts to $180 per week for his truck.
“It costs me nothing to ride him up the street and it makes people smile,” White said.
“Everyone stops and says hello. Nobody does that when you’re driving a car.”
Madie Kelly, an employee at a local service station, captured a photo of White and Fox at the BottleMart drive-through and posted it online.
“Honestly, it’s the most Australian thing you’ll ever see,” she said.
“It’s honestly the start of a punchline. Like – a horse rocks up to BottleMart – someone needs to make a joke about that.”
At 23 years old, Fox’s days as a polo-cross competitor are all but over. But Eathon says he’s got a long career ahead of him going through drive-throughs.
“My niece and my daughter want to go double-dink through the Maccas drive-through, and I’m going to let them,” White said.
“Kids don’t have a sense of adventure any more since technology took off. They’re stuck on their phones. Anxiety-ridden. Depression-ridden.”
“Put them on a horse and they’ll want to stay outside all day.”
