A man has been arrested on suspicion of breaching airspace restrictions hours before Donald Trump’s arrival in the UK for his controversial second state visit.
The man, aged 37 and from Brentford in west London, is accused of flying a drone in Windsor Great Park which breached the restricted area.
He is in custody and the incident is being investigated under aviation law, Thames Valley Police said.
The force said: ‘This serves as a reminder that airspace restrictions are currently in place for the state visit of President of the United States of America Donald Trump, and any breaches will be dealt with robustly.’
Increased airspace restrictions are in place over Windsor from today until Thursday, with additional restrictions in place over Chequers when Trump meets Keir Starmer there on Thursday.
Trump’s Air Force One is scheduled to touch down at 8.30pm at Stansted Airport in London.
Simultaneously, a Stop Trump Coalition protest is set to take place outside Windsor Castle, where officers from across the UK are ready to respond to a potential ‘very high threat level’ incident.
